Any Smallville Fans?

Posted by Debby on 29th October 2004

I only dress my son in Superman colors . . . unless I am behind on laundry (which, I think, shows that I am not obsessive/compulsive, or for you more concerned readers, I am not insane (this is joy in vanity not insanity!)). If it is any consolation, he looks great in Red and Blue. And he likes to fly (at this time, however, only with assistance of his mother or father). And his name means Hero of God. And we (my cute and wonderful husband and I) intend to instill in him a love for truth, wisdom, justice and mercy.

There. That substantiates my actions.

I also buy sippy cups in Red and Blue. But, if you have a young child, you understand that a sippy cup is basically an accessory anyway!

In any event, my “True Confessions” (say that in a whisper, it sounds more exciting) must come to an end as my little Kal-El needs tending to!

Eating It Up!

Posted by Debby on 28th October 2004

My wonderful in-laws have given my husband a fantastic dining table for his December birthday! It is hard to describe how thankful I am for this table. This table is beautiful. It goes perfectly in our home, and in fact, really classes up the joint! It is strong and sturdy. It is big: It seats up to eight – EIGHT – EIGHT!!! – people! At one time!

The friends and family to be served! The feasts to be eaten! The wine to be drunk! The bread to be buttered! The milk to be spilled! The cookies to be eaten! The stories to be told! The songs to be sung! The prayers to be offered! The pictures to be drawn! The games to be played! The memories to be made! I am as happy as a little girl!

I remember one Christmas when my mom received a beautiful dining room table. For years after, every time my sister, my brother or I had our feet on one of the pedestal legs, she would say “Get your feet off of My Christmas Present! How would you like it if I put my feet on your Christmas present?!?” At the time, I scoffed. But now, I understand the ability to cherish an inanimate object that will be the setting of so many pleasurable moments in my family’s life!

Thank you Emmy and Granddad!

Mmmm . . . Chocolate, Yum

Posted by Debby on 26th October 2004

I love Williams-Sonoma. I love anything from Williams-Sonoma — even spatulas. Consequently, you can imagine how delighted I was to receive their recent Holiday Catalog. I was browsing through the catalog, making a mental list of all the things I certainly needed, when I came to the holiday foods. I was admiring a big bowl filled with delicious chocolate treats, when I heard, “Ew, Mama! Poo-Poo!” I looked up to see my three-year old daughter’s brow furrowed as she looked at the previously enticing picture, apparently wondering why there were Poo-Poo’s in a big bowl.
